TANGEMUNDE
CHARMING TOURIST TOWN
It’s a Saturday evening when I arrive in Tangemunde. I check at the tourist information office for a room and am told the only place available is quite far away, at the entrance to town in the industrial area, for 35 Euro. Not so great.
I’m pushing my bike through the old section of town when I notice a woman pull into a parking space in front of a door with ‘“Pension” painted on it. I immediately ask her if she has a room available. She says “Yes!” and the price with breakfast is 32 euro - I ask her to repeat it to make sure I heard correctly! I’m feeling lucky as it’s a charming room within walking distance of everything!!
In the evening I walk up to a castle that has been converted to a nice hotel. I have a cup of coffee on the veranda overlooking the Elbe to watch the almost full moon rise. I spend the rest of the evening at the Alte Braurei with a glass of wine and their internet connection.
CHANGE OF PLANS
I decide I want to be in Dresden sooner. The couple I met yesterday at the historic inn got me excited about Dresden and places to see as a day trips. If I bike the rest of the way there, I won’t have time to see everything… so I decide to take the train the next day. I check out available accommodations and go ahead and make a reservation at Lolli’s Homestay Hostel.
Looking forward to some day trips from Dresden…
