A VAN AND A PROBLEM OPENS THE DOOR TO COMMUNITY…

I met Yuri at La Tortuga Verde on my first day. He is there every day selling handmade craft items. He usually joins us in the ocean at the end of the day. He is from El Salvador, a creative and lives and travels in his very cool VW van. Yuri painted the van himself but with the original engine and many miles on it, he is concerned the engine won’t last. He has more countries he wants to visit.

We discuss setting up a crowdfunding site. Dugg, a volunteer, is very tech savvy so he sets up an Indiegogo site and I interview Yuri to put together his profile. We set up: La Lula, the 1969 VW van needs a new engine! We feel confident with the site. Yuri is excited, and scared -because it is so important to him!

After all this concerted effort, its time to chill and hit the water for some ‘serious’ wave jumping.

Update: La Lula got her new engine and Yuri has made it all the way down the west coast of South America and then up the east coast to Uruguay and then into Brazil.
